The Sun Salutation is one of the most commonly known yoga sequences. But not many know about its cousin, the Moon Salutation. I often weave variations of the Moon Salutations into my classes.
A Moon Salutation follows the following sequence:
5 Pointed Star
Goddess Pose
Crescent Lunge
Pyramid Pose
Balancing Half Moon
Crescent Lunge
Prayer Squat
Repeat Steps 1-6
In contrast to the sun salutation, which has a purpose of warming up the body, the moon salutation is intended to cool down the body, calm the mind, and draw attention inward.
